It is exciting for the Weaver Mountains Health Initiative to see something go from an idea (over three years ago) to reality! Join us on Sat. Sep. 24, from 10 am – 2 pm at the Yarnell Fire House, 22558 Looka Way, Yarnell.
Originally planned to be held at the Model Creek School gymnasium, WMHI team shifted location after heavy rains damaged the gym. THANK YOU Chief Shearer and the YFD. The WMHI has assembled a smorgasbord of resources for healthy living in our area.
WHAT TO EXPECT: A good time! Information, knowledgeable and friendly providers, and local organizations that offer health and wellness services. Here’s a sampling: Wickenburg Community Hospital, Veterans Coalition of Central Arizona (VCCA promotes Veterans Suicide Awareness), Yavapai County Community Health Services, U of A’s Center for Rural Health, Spectrum Healthcare Group, healthy and affordable eating with Pinnacle Prevention, hearing and vision checks, chair yoga, Petey’s Playground, Community Garden, chair massage, the Art Group, Kids’ Area (parents must stay with their children/grandchildren), pilates demonstration, First Things First, meditation, Tai chi, blood pressure checks, sugar level test, and more!
PLEASE FOLLOW THE PARKING SIGNS! There will be NO PARKING at the Fire House except for very limited handicapped spaces, but parking will be available at the Yarnell Community Presbyterian Church.
REGISTER FIRST! At the entrance to the Fire House, you’ll receive a Program Passport. This will list all the exhibitors with their booth numbers and a place for the “Passport” stamp. You’ll receive a wrist band when you complete and turn in a Release and Waiver of Liability, and a lunch coupon (while lunch supplies last.)
DOOR PRIZES! Four times during the EXPO we will draw several of the Liability Waivers (these contain all your contact information) for gifts valued up to $25 dollars. You do not need to be present to win!
PASSPORT PRIZES! We want you to visit as many of the resource booths and workshops as possible. When you turn in your “Passport” , we will total the number of places you visited, and you will be eligible for drawings of $50 or $100 gift cards, depending on the total number of booths you got stickered. You do not need to be present to win!
FINGERS CROSSED! We’re hoping to have an ambulance and a helicopter there for residents to be able to visit up close. And probably a fire engine, too!
We hope to see you there!
NOTE: We know the Skull Valley Ice Cream Social and Cattle Growers’ BBQ are also happening the same day. We will try to do better next year to avoid conflicts when possible. But why not do more than one event in a day!
